Sam VanBibber

What is Steam Punk Jewelry? It gets its popularity from a growing resistance to corporate modernization, the mass commercialization of virtually everything, coupled with the surge of nostalgia for all things vintage and antique.
All jewelry is hand assembled, one of a kind and created by me and is 99% re-purposed or recycled found pieces,Broken unrepairable vintage jewelry, wind up watches, gears and other found objects that were considered "junk" and ready to be tossed away. I have rescued them and made beautiful Art pieces to be worn and cherished.

I have sold vintage jewelry for over 35 years and over these years I have horded bits and pieces of lovely old broken jewelry that I just never could throw away. Swearing to repair or replace stones and now I have finally found a way to put these old pieces together in an artful way for the new old movement of SteamPunk! Owned and operated Wear It Again Sam on lower Westheimer and sold vintage clothing, costumes and my love for vintage jewelry was proven by the 5 jewelry cases that sat in the front room of the shop. Started my life as an artist and seamstress making various forms of art selling at markets in my home town of Memphis, Tn and here in Houston back in the late 70s. Making soft doll sculptures, pottery, ceramics and my sewing and costuming skills lead to me the theater in the early days of Stages Repertory when they were down on Franklin Street in the basement. In April 1984, I opened Wear It Again Sam and used my creativity in making costumes and repairing and selling vintage clothing.
