b.bags

b.bags was born August of 2008 when I, Lora Bunge, decided that I wanted to try my hand at sewing some simple bags out of upcycled and repurposed materials on my "new to me" hand-me-down 1970's Kenmore sewing machine. One thing led to another, and here we are today! All of my handbags are made out of upcycled clothes, fabrics, buttons, belts, bracelets, ties, you name it. I LOVE the concept of reusing materials and giving new life to something that may have otherwise ended up in the dump. And, of course, every b.bag is designed and handmade by yours truly! b.bags was born August of 2008 when I, Lora Bunge, decided that I wanted to try my hand at sewing some simple bags out of upcycled materials on my "new to me" hand-me-down 1970's Kenmore sewing machine. Well, one bag turned into an obsession with reclaiming and repurposing materials and constructing them into handy little purses, and here we are today!

All of my handbags are made out of upcycled clothes, fabric, thread, zippers, buttons, snaps, belts, bracelets, ties, hardware from old purses, you name it! I LOVE the concept of reusing materials and giving new life to something that may have otherwise ended up in the dump. I spend a lot of time ripping out seams and chopping up old fabrics and materials and reconfiguring them into a trendy, useable purse. By using local reclaimed materials I am helping the environment and our society by not supporting energy guzzling processes and keeping a few more items out of our landfills. Since I started making handbags I have been a fanatic of garage sales, thrift stores and flea markets. It is amazing to see how much fantastic materials are out there if you are willing to spend the time searching for it!

Every b.bag is designed and handmade by yours truly. I put a lot of time and care into each bag to make sure that it is durable, sturdy, and can be used for many years to come. I triple stitch each corner and handle of each bag for reinforcement, and interface all of my bags for added strength and quality. I give every bag what my husband likes to call the "Lora test" (which he isn't happy with when I try to do this with home improvement projects!) and make sure everything is nice and sturdy.
