I worked many years in the corporate world before I realized my true calling was to play with metal and fire.
...There's just something about watching copper change colors... but I digress...
Life is about fun, pride, love, family, friends, laughing, individuality, and sometimes pain, sadness, hard decisions, and darkness. I try to embrace all of these things in my work through color, shape, texture, and imagery. I'm mostly influenced by Steampunk culture, Japanese street fashion, art deco, and ancient Egyptian art.

Kristen's husband Brent will have his work on display too.

My work consists of minimalistic sculpture with a mathematical foundation. Specific parts of a form can be given more emphasis with the addition of vibrant colors of spray paint. I continually cross over from abstract to realistic as I seek out new shapes inspired by unusual lifeforms. 281.455.8261

Our most important sense is sight because it grants us more information than any other. When considering an image, we instinctively pick out the important parts of it. I believe that line is the most important part of every image. Lines create shapes, which combine into forms. Regardless of what we look at, the lines describe everything, from details to outlines. Shapes and forms interact with positive and negative space by expressing boundaries which define surface. Surface gives our minds a false sense of the third dimension. To draw in three dimensions, one must sculpt with lines. When I close my eyes, I see hollow forms expressed in line, and these forms evolve into my art. My art can then be viewed as that relationship between line and space which translates into a surface that the viewer’s mind must create.
