Gallery Tent
This new concept is sponsored by art market coordinator Mitch Cohen in June. Featuring different artists each month. The space is the first booth on the left when entering the market area. This month, artist Lindsay Peyton will feature select paintings of her own and of artist Ian Anderson.
| Ian Anderson
Ian Anderson is a Houston native, who studied art at Otis College in California and the Glassell School of Art in Houston. He lived in Los Angeles for five years, working in animation and painting custom tiles. For Anderson, art is a form of storytelling, and he is currently drawn to science fiction. He is inspired by quantum mechanics and modern theories in science and enjoys expressing these new ideas with an old medium – oil paint. |
| Lindsay Peyton
Lindsay Peyton is a Houston native, and her works in oil, pastels, charcoal and other media have been featured in galleries, arts festivals, and gathering places around the city. Peyton is a photojournalism graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, but after graduating, discovered she would rather be painting than processing film. She explores emotion and color in her portraiture and studies. For both artists contact: lindsaypeyton.com or Email |

Abstraction indicates a departure from reality in depiction of imagery in art. This departure from accurate representation can be only slight, or it can be partial, or it can be complete. Abstraction exists along a continuum. Even art that aims for verisimilitude of the highest degree can be said to be abstract, at least theoretically, since perfect representation is likely to be exceedingly elusive.

Painting is a hobby I started a few years ago in grad school as a break from reading and writing. As I’ve learned to love the process and product of working with acrylics, my compositions have evolved from what I whimsically call “doodles” and “non-talking heads.” Continue reading

Colorfly Studio by Jennifer DeDonato

I love paper! My technique is all about paper! I enjoy the simple hands-on techniques that is considered “old school” today and simply consists of paper, scissors and adhesive (yep, that’s pretty much it). I have a Ooh La La collection of paper that inspires me and cutting freehand is my thing. I also like vintage matchbooks and antique print letters. I use old discarded matchbooks and give them a second life. All my matchbook designs are created with the same “technical” way my paper designs are…you guessed it, scissors and adhesive.

Creative Glass and Heirloom Portraits

I create original artwork designs in stained glass. I find anything glass and create an art piece with it. My favorites are dragonflies and elaborate mandala-style color-bursts, but I also make a wide range of theme-style creations, such as hummingbirds, butterflies, bugs, fish, angels, crosses, hearts, chakras, & many others. In addition to glass art I have recently re-kindled an old love for the art of painting. I am happy to now be offering acrylic paintings of pets & people from your photos. These can be done in color or classic black & white.

In creating my pieces, I want viewers to feel them as much as they see them. I combine realistic images with the elemental use of color and texture. I strive to induce a feeling that renders words somewhat inadequate.
