I work with a medley of mediums to make jewelry. I create a diverse range of body art to give the client a variety of opportunities to experience the beauty and satisfaction that can come from body ornamentation. My favorite medium to use is polymer clay. It allows me to make dramatic statement pieces that are wearable art. Many of these pieces incorporate beads that I have also handcrafted. These are my favorite pieces of jewelry to create. These pieces require a good deal of confidence to wear by the owner because they will wear you if you don't wear it like you "own it". These pieces have attitude! I also make pieces that are more conservative and whisper confidence.

Painting is a hobby I started a few years ago in grad school as a break from reading and writing. As I’ve learned to love the process and product of working with acrylics, my compositions have evolved from what I whimsically call “doodles” and “non-talking heads.” Continue reading

I love paper! My technique is all about paper! I enjoy the simple hands-on techniques that is considered “old school” today and simply consists of paper, scissors and adhesive (yep, that’s pretty much it). I have a Ooh La La collection of paper that inspires me and cutting freehand is my thing. I also like vintage matchbooks and antique print letters. I use old discarded matchbooks and give them a second life. All my matchbook designs are created with the same “technical” way my paper designs are…you guessed it, scissors and adhesive.

b.bags was born August of 2008 when I, Lora Bunge, decided that I wanted to try my hand at sewing some simple bags out of upcycled and repurposed materials on my "new to me" hand-me-down 1970's Kenmore sewing machine. One thing led to another, and here we are today! All of my handbags are made out of upcycled clothes, fabrics, buttons, belts, bracelets, ties, you name it. I LOVE the concept of reusing materials and giving new life to something that may have otherwise ended up in the dump. And, of course, every b.bag is designed and handmade by yours truly! Most of my work is medium to large scale acrylic, oil pastel, or mixed media inspired by nature with a modern edge. While pieces range from whimsical to abstract, they generally incorporate a high contrast pallette and texture created by layering either paper, modeling paste or paint. I work to evoke a sense of joy or a feeling of connection to flora and fauna. It has been referred to as "happy art".

Art Turnings By Paula J Haymond

My work starts with the wood spinning on the lathe. As the roughing out process progresses, the form begins to emerge from the interaction of the wood, images it conveys to me and the skills I have mastered over the last 6 years of turning. I strive to combine form, grain pattern, fantasy and surface treatment to create art which is orginal, pleasing and whimsical as well as functional.
Lynn Chatman

My current work focuses on the emotional and healing impact of art and painting through the use of color, symbols, and texture. While I have always loved working in oil, most of my current work explores the versatility and unique expression of acrylics.

I enjoy working in a wide variety of media and currently my main focus has been creating jewelry redesigns (altered art). I greatly enjoy redesigning jewelry as finding just the right components to collage together into one-of-a-kind pieces is exciting! Another focus is embossed metal art (repujado). Working in 36 gauge metal sheets, I emboss my linear designs which I then embolden with blocks of bright enamel paint. I developed this bold style of embossed metal from the idea to keep the designs clear and colorful which results in a stained glass quality in its simplicity. My favorite motifs include the sun, sunflower, and heart. It makes me happy when my work brings happiness to others!

I use ink and paper to create images out of words. From a distance, my work looks like an image (i.e. the Statue of Liberty) but the image is made entirely out of words.
My work includes pieces that are iconic, pieces that are light hearted, statement pieces and pieces that are deeply personal. In addition to my collection of work, I also take on specialty commissions. Have a favorite movie or song? I can create almost any image out of words for a very personal gift.

Funky Cottage is a local Heights business that restores and paints antique furniture pieces in funky, eclectic colors and techniques. The furniture consists of smaller side tables and nightstands (of which a couple are hoped to be featured at the market), and larger items such as dressers, chests, and armoires.
Original paintings are done on traditional canvases and art boards, using pen and ink, acrylics and watercolor. Some paintings are double canvas mounted, consisting of the painted canvas attached to a larger canvas lined with fabric/handmade paper to add additional spunk. Art gallery can be found here:Link.
