Houston, September 22, 2008 - The Yale Street Arts Market returns to daytime hours on Saturday October 4 after a summer of successful evening shows. The fine arts market is also leaving behind its name, dropping Yale Street for the date of the show: First Saturday. Coinciding with the Houston Heights Association's Heights 1st Saturday event, the art market along with its host, Wind Water Gallery, are on the complementary shopping shuttle route that circulates the neighborhood on this busy shopping day. The free air conditioned shuttle service offered to visitors makes shopping the Heights a truly unique experience.

Now going into its fifth year, the First Saturday Art Market features up to 40 vendors with original paintings, jewelry, sculpture, ceramics and more. Most artists are local, while others travel from the Austin, Bryan, College Station and Brenham to participate. Keeping with the eclectic nature of the 100 year old neighborhood, the market has a few vendors that offer handmade soaps, fresh breads, spices and infused olive oils. Local musicians always entertain and the market has seen some regulars like Duke Jones, David Fahl of Fahl & Folk, The Daniel Reich Trio and the Fun Country Band.

October 4, November 1 and December 6 the market will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the shuttles run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Located on the parking lot of Wind Water Asian Antiques Gallery at 548 W. 19th St. More information about the art market, artists, shuttle stops and Heights 1st Saturday links are on the website www.FirstSaturdayArtMarket.com or by calling 713-802-1213.
