Yale Street Arts Market turns four years old in March. To celebrate, the band Carrie Ann & The Apocolyptics will perform, and the Rocket City Jukes, a blues band formed by market musician Duke Jones.

WHO: Yale Street Arts Market on 19th Street. Fine Art artists from all over the greater Houston, Austin and Brenham areas. Many artists are regularly accepted into nationally recognized festivals such as Bayou City Arts Festival, Cottonwood and more.

WHAT: Yale Street Arts Market is an open-air fine arts market open on the first Saturday of the month. Thirty eight white canopied tents, paintings in all mediums and sizes, photography, sculpture and jewelry. Up to 60 artists present. Live Music by local musicians, and late afternoons its plug and play arranged in advance with such notable Houstonians as David Fahl, Carrie Ann Buchanan and hosted by Duke Jones.

WHEN: Year round on the first Saturday of each month, rain or shine unless otherwise noted by the organizer. No rain dates. Sept - May, hours 10am to 6pm and summers June - Sept, hours 6pm to 10pm.

WHERE: Located in the historic Houston Heights 19th Street on the parking lot of Wind Water Asian Antiques Gallery.

WHY: To provide artists a venue to sell their work directly to the public and for the public to purchase local works of art directly from the artist. Sticking to the original mission has assured its success, "Yale Street Arts Market has established itself among the arts community as the only place to sell and find affordable and original art on a monthly basis direct from the artist." Many artists have moved onto the big show circuit after honing their business skills at the art market, and continue to return.

A member of the Houston Heights Associations' Heights 1st Saturday. A free luxury shuttle bus is provided to visitors on the first Saturday for shopping convenience and a mini tour of the historic neighborhood.

A press room is on the website http://www.yalestreetmarket.com/Main/PressRoom
