Myrna Sanders
The Houston native has performed all genres of music in her career, everything from folk and country to R&B and rock to heavy metal.
With Houston metal band Bad Heaven, Sanders would rock the house and drew accolades from touring musicians when her group got to open for the likes of metal shredders Megadeth and Metal Church.
She has been featured on the Houston Chronicle’s local music website Hand Stamp.
Her debut album Riches to Rags includes sweeping orchestrations and arrangements that she created, especially lush vocal harmonies on both the ballads and the rockers.

Myrna Sanders started playing bass by accident. But her success in the music business is certainly no fluke.
This Houston native has performed all genres of music in her career, everything from folk and country to R&B and rock to heavy metal. At age 9, she picked up her first guitar left to her by her mother, who died when Sanders was barely a year old and began learning songs from records and the radio by ear. She has been a major force behind numerous local bands throughout the years, but the release of her solo debut CD Riches to Rags in June 2003 placed her front and center of Houston’s music scene.
As a vocalist, she loved to perform tender ballads and balls-to-the-wall rockers, citing influences from Linda Ronstadt, Billie Holiday, Janis Joplin and even Robert Plant. She put all her vocal and bass-playing talents together in rock band Rare Seed, voted best rock band in Houston in 1996-97 by the Houston Music Council. In the Summer of 2003, she was nominated for Best Female Vocalist in the 2003 Houston Press Music Awards. Her music has been included in various compilation CD's being distributed nationally including the GoGirlsRock 2004 MusicFest Compilation, the Subterra Radio Brown Bag Compilation CD and the OASIS CD Manufacturing Rock and Roots compilation Volume 25. Her song Good Thang hit no. 7 on the Texas Music charts on Radio Marseillette, France and was no. 1 on Subterra Radio’s Texas Top 40 for two consecutive months. She and her band performed at Galveston’s 2004 Mardi Gras and have been featured in the Houston Chronicle’s local music section – Hand Stamp.
She currently performs not only as a solo artist, but also with her Janis Joplin Tribute Band, Kozmic Pearl, with Love Street Light Circus, and a new original project called STEMM, and can be seen around southeast Texas on any given night (or day) doing what she does best.
You can hear Myrna's music on KPFT, 90.1 FM in Houston, KACC, 89.7 in Alvin, KEOS 89.1 in College Station, XM Satellite Radio Unsigned and on numerous internet radio stations throughout England, Argentina, the Netherlands, France, and Germany.
